Rivne

Rivne Oblast is located in the northwest of Ukraine. The administrative centre is Rivne city.
In the north, Rivne Oblast borders Belarus, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Lviv, and Volyn Oblasts. It is located at the crossroads of international transport highways (E373, E40, E85) not far from the border with the European Union (100 km) and the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv (250 km).
The main industries of the region are energy, chemical, machine-building, metalworking, woodworking and food industry. In addition, the structure of the region’s industry is being actively transformed to attract investments in innovative and high-tech industries. Several industrial parks have been created in the region.
Regional GDP was 2.6 billion USD (1.69% of Ukraine’s GDP), FDI stock was 538 million USD (main foreign investors are Dyckerhoff, FAPOMED, Verallia, Morgan Furniture, BAG), and export was 0.5 billion USD.
Industry specialization: wood products, mechanical engineering (machines and equipment), food products (beverages), metalworking, chemical products, and furniture.
Natural resources of the region: amber, building materials, peat, sapropel.
There are 11 universities and 1 technical school in the region. The leading universities are National University of Water Management and Nature Management, Rivne State Humanitarian University, and Ostroh Academy.
The unemployment rate in the region was 9.8% (average in Ukraine 9.9%) and the average salary was 447 USD (average in Ukraine 430 USD).
