Vinnytsia Region is located in the eastern part of Podillia. The capital of the Region is the city of Vinnytsia.
The Region borders Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, and Odesa Regions of Ukraine, as well as the Republic of Moldova to the south, including a section of the border with unrecognized Transnistria. Vinnytsia Region is situated 270 km from Kyiv and 425 km from the Odesa seaport. The Region has Vinnytsia International Airport and is connected by international highways M-12 and M-21.
Administratively, the Region is divided into 6 districts, comprising 18 cities, 29 urban-type settlements, and 1,457 villages.
The Regional economy features a diversified industrial complex, with the leading sectors being the food industry, machine building, and metalworking. Over 400 industrial enterprises operate in 13 industries, including food production, electric power, mechanical engineering, metalworking, chemical, and petrochemical industries. Microbiology and medicine are also showing dynamic growth.
Vinnytsia Region continues to strengthen its position in foreign trade. In 2024, the Region exported goods worth over $1.96 billion, representing a 15.5% increase compared with the previous year, while imports declined to $855.5 million. As a result, the Region exports more than twice as much as it imports, maintaining a stable positive trade balance. The main trading partners include Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey, and China.
Exports are primarily composed of agricultural and food products – grains, sunflower oil, sugar, poultry meat, and dairy products – highlighting the Region’s competitiveness in international markets.

Natural resources: peat, kaolin, fluorspar, granite.
Vinnytsia Region actively participates in the Swiss-Ukrainian project UCORD, aimed at enhancing community cohesion and promoting the sustainable development of Regions. Within this initiative, the Region receives expert and financial assistance to improve Regional governance, support small businesses, and implement innovative solutions in social and environmental fields. The project also helps to strengthen the Vinnytsia Regional Development Agency, enabling it to expand partnerships with communities, entrepreneurs, and international donors.
The Region hosts 17 universities and 6 technical schools. The leading institutions include Vinnytsia National Technical University, National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, and Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University.
As of 2023, the unemployment rate stood at 11.0% (compared to the national average of 9.9%), while the average monthly salary reached $534 (the national average being $627).
